Only Charm is dedicated to one of Ray's closest friends and began on a FaceTime call, where the friend picked out chords that she liked for Ray to craft into a song. When they first met, the two did not feel compatible. But as they both let their guards down, they were able to get to know each other on a deeper level, and the qualities that once intimidated each other became charming.
“Sometimes what you see at first isn’t the whole story. We all have so many different sides to ourselves — I don’t like when people say that someone is two-faced. We’re all multi-faceted, there’s so much more depth to everything you see on the surface.”
This bubbly, vibrant, synth-infused track is the second single to be released from Ray April's upcoming EP Chasing Echoes, where every song is dedicated to one of her friends. The EP has been recorded at the University of Queensland School of music by Corella Recordings, the university's in-house record label.
