Lienzos y Recuerdos is a mind-bending double bass adventure featuring composer/bassist Bernardo Alviz, and renowned soloist and orchestral double bassist Phoebe Russell.
This release has grown from Alviz’ PhD research, in which he developed his music for left-hand only following an injury to his right wrist. Emphasising the expression of physicality in performance became the focal point of his doctoral research.
Lienzos y Recuerdos thrives on this physicality, incorporating both acoustic double bass and electric with effects, giving listeners a visceral tour through the world of this rich instrument.
